Answers to what usually comes up while playing BLOOMWAVE.
How to play
What kind of game is this?
Drag one of the three pieces from the tray onto the board. When four cells of the same color form a 2×2, they charge, and the wave that arrives every few beats spreads out from the center of the board and detonates them.
Breaking is the wave's job. Your job is to decide what to build and where.
Why can't I rotate pieces?
There is no rotation in this game. Instead, each shape appears in every orientation as its own piece, so the orientation you need will come. This is a game about placement, not about spinning things quickly.
My blocks are floating in mid-air.
That's correct. You can place a piece on any empty spot. Blocks only fall while a wave is passing. That makes it possible to build in mid-air, then have it drop into place when the blocks below break — which is how you set up chains.
I made a 2×2 but nothing happened.
It charged, but the wave hasn't arrived yet. The wave comes every few beats — the row of dots below the board counts down to it, and the board's edge pulses twice as fast starting two beats before it lands.
A 2×2 with mixed colors does not charge. All four cells must be the same color.
My meter keeps dropping.
It isn't dropping because you're idle. It only drops when a wave passes with nothing to break. And right after an instrument joins you get a grace period, so the first one is forgiven.
How do I score more?
Build bigger clusters. One large break is worth far more than several small ones. And when the blocks that fall afterwards form another 2×2, it chains — chains carry a large multiplier.
How is the Daily Challenge decided?
The piece order is built from the date, so everyone gets the same pieces that day. It's generated from the date alone with no server, so changing your device's time zone won't change the board.
You can play it as many times as you like, and your best score for the day is what sticks.
What is RUSH 120s?
A mode where you score as much as you can in 120 seconds on the track you picked. If Endless is about lasting, RUSH is about pushing. The clock starts when you place your first piece, so there's no cost to reading the board first.
Everyone gets the same 120 seconds, so it has a weekly leaderboard. Unlike the Daily Challenge, RUSH has no continue.
Music and tracks
Instruments keep coming and going.
That's intended. As the meter fills, instruments stack up (beat → percussion → bass → melody → harmony), and above that the same instruments thicken. Play well and the whole band plays; let waves pass with nothing to break and it thins out again.
How do I unlock tracks?
By playing. The track list shows the condition and your current progress for every locked track.
Locked tracks can still be previewed — tap one and it plays right away. A locked track plays up to melody (beat, percussion, bass, melody); once it's yours, harmony joins for the full arrangement.
The music and the visuals feel slightly out of sync.
Depending on your device and headphones, audio can arrive late. Use Settings → Calibrate to correct it. We especially recommend it if you use wireless earbuds.
Sound got strange after unplugging my headphones.
Please quit the app completely and reopen it. If it keeps happening, let us know your device and headphone model.
Display and accessibility
The screen flashes too much.
Turn on Reduce Flashing in Settings. The beat flash becomes much weaker and fades more slowly. You're also offered this option on first launch.
This game brightens the screen repeatedly in time with the music. If you are sensitive to light or have a history of photosensitive seizures, please start with Reduce Flashing on.
I can't tell the two colors apart.
Turn on High Contrast in Settings — the center marker on one of the colors gets larger and stronger. The two colors never change between tracks, so learning them once is enough.
The frame rate stutters.
Turn on Light Mode in Settings to trim the glow effects. If it still stutters, please tell us your device model at the email below.
Can I change how the blocks look?
Swipe left or right on the blocks on the title screen to change the skin. Locked skins show in grayscale, and you can still swipe through them to look — start a game and it returns to the skin you actually have on.
Skins are not sold; they unlock from cumulative cells cleared. The requirement is shown under each skin's name.
Haptics aren't working.
On iOS, haptics are off by default. We found that they fail to start on some devices, so we default them off. You can turn them on in Settings to check.
Records and purchases
Do my records move to a new device?
Best scores, cumulative stats, and unlocked tracks are stored on your device only, so a new device starts fresh. We do not offer account sync.
Purchases can be restored, though (see below). And scores submitted to a leaderboard live in your Game Center / Play Games account, so those follow you.
What goes on the leaderboards?
Two of them: RUSH Weekly and Daily Challenge. Everyone gets the same pieces in the Daily Challenge so it compares directly, and RUSH gives everyone the same 120 seconds.
Your best endless score per track stays on your device — each track has its own BPM and wave interval, so mixing them would make a ranking meaningless.
Only the score and which leaderboard it belongs to are submitted. Your play records themselves stay on your device.
My score isn't showing on the leaderboard.
You need to be signed in to Game Center (iOS) or Play Games (Android). The game plays exactly the same without signing in, and your on-device records are unaffected.
If your score doesn't appear under "All" in Play Games, your player profile may be set to private. Check your profile settings in the Play Games app.
When do ads appear?
There are no banner ads covering the screen. Ads are mostly shown when you choose to watch one — continuing after a game ends, a booster for the next game, or trying a locked track. You can skip all of them and play normally.
If today's Daily Challenge track isn't unlocked for you yet, one ad opens it for 30 minutes, ad-free. You can open a track this way up to 3 times a day — the count left is shown under the Daily Challenge button, and it resets after midnight.
An interstitial may appear rarely between games. Never in your first session after installing, and not after every game. Buying Remove Ads turns interstitials off completely (rewarded ads stay available whenever you want them).
I changed devices and my purchases are gone.
Open the Store from the title screen and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with, they'll come back. The app does not restore automatically at launch — doing so would pop up a store account sign-in, so we only do it when you ask.
If restoring doesn't bring them back, you may have purchased with a different account — please check which account you're signed in with.
How do payments and refunds work?
All payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- iOS: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Android: Request a refund on Google Play
Troubleshooting
There's no sound.
Check that Music and Sound Effects aren't turned off in Settings. Your device being on silent can also mute the game.
The beat drifts after I switch away and come back.
It's built not to. If you do run into this, please tell us your device model and OS version so we can look into it.
The app freezes or the board looks wrong.
Please quit the app completely and reopen it. If it continues, contact us with your device model, OS version, and app version.
